Boy Scouts of America, Seneca Waterways Council

Seneca Waterways Council serves as an integral part of the Boy Scouts of America, serving a diverse community of boys and girls across the greater Rochester area and the Finger Lakes. The Seneca Waterways Council is a dynamic and forward-thinking organization dedicated to empowering young individuals to become responsible, engaged citizens through the transformative experiences of scouting. Seneca Waterways Council has been a beacon of character development, leadership training, and outdoor adventure. We believe in fostering a sense of community, camaraderie, and respect for the environment while instilling core values such as integrity, responsibility, and service. Our programs cater to Scouts of all ages, from Cub Scouts taking their first steps in the world of Scouting to Eagle Scouts who have achieved the pinnacle of leadership and service. We offer a wide range of activities, from camping in breathtaking natural landscapes to skill-building workshops and community service projects. At the heart of our mission is the belief that every scout has the potential to make a positive impact in their community and beyond. We provide a nurturing environment where young people can grow, learn, and thrive, guided by dedicated leaders and mentors who are passionate about shaping the leaders of tomorrow. For more information about our programs and how to get involved, visit our website: senecawaterways.org Scouting helps boys and girls develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives. Scouting instills these values through fun and exciting program experiences such as camping where Scouts learn to be self-reliant as well as how to work as a team. A three-year study conducted by Tufts University compared the character attributes of both Scouts and non-Scouts to measure the impact of the BSA program. By the end, youth in the Scouting showed a significant increase in character attributes. Your support through ROC The Day will help Scouting programs remain affordable and accessible for all youth. Key Findings: - The more time kids spend in Scouting, the better the outcomes in character development. - Scouts are more likely to embrace positive social values than non-Scouts - Scouts who are more engaged in the program report higher outcomes in nearly every category.
