441 Ministries

441 Ministries is a Christian community development non-profit organization that exists to bring hope, healing, and holistic development to the underserved Beechwood neighborhood of Rochester. We accomplish this through focusing on four pillars: housing, economic development, youth & family ministries, and food access. Our Housing programs consist of 12 apartments that we maintain at high quality and provide at below-market rent. Our primary Economic Development program is New City Cafe & Roastery. New City Cafe opened in 2017 to create jobs for neighborhood youth and to create a great community gathering space. The cafe currently provides two full-time and two part-time jobs for teenagers and young adults in our neighborhood. We partner with New City Fellowship Beechwood to host their youth programs, including Kids Club, Teen Club, and Kids Camp. These programs focus on holistic development of youth and families in our community, including creating positive relationships between youth and each other and adults, sharing gospel truths, sharing healthy meals, playing games, and creating art. Our Food Access programs include the Beechwood Community Garden and Foodlink's Curbside Market. The Beechwood Community Garden, on Parsells Ave., offers neighbors the opportunity to grow and share healthy food together. We also have a farm stand that provides free food to anyone walking by. Foodlink's Curbside Market parks next to 441 every Thursday from 3-4pm and provides produce to our community which is otherwise a food swamp.
