The Arnett Block Association is a citizen group called together to fight drug dealing, crime, and violence in our community. We meet together once a month with the police department to collaborate with them. We have a representative on the Police Chief's PCIC committee. In addition, we help with landlord and tenant issues especially as it impacts home owner occupied properties.
We also work closely with the Arnett Public Library, community churches and the local schools. We collaborate with community partners such as Foodlink to bring needed services into the neighborhood. Our organization was instrumental in renovating the Arnett Public Library foyer and children's room and in establishing a "Friends of the Arnett Library" group, the first in the city.
We have developed and maintain a small park with a perennial garden, the Arnett Bird and Butterfly Garden, at the corner of Arnett and Wellington. Each year we host an Easter Egg Hunt, Picnic in the Park Day, and Christmas Tree Decorating in the Park with Christmas Caroling. We also host a large Block Party the first Saturday of August on Arnett Boulevard. We host a Bike Clinic in collaboration with R-Community Bikes in the spring raffling off 25 free bikes and helmets to children without bikes and repairing bikes for those in need.
We are committed to seeing this community become once again a healthy, family friendly community with better schools and library and safe streets and homes.
