The Greece Historical Society is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization, organized in 1969 and chartered in 1975 by the NYS Board of Regents. Our purpose is to collect, research and preserve the history of the town of Greece, NY and the local area. To accomplish its purpose the Society offers: • a historic house and museum with rotating exhibits • a website and Facebook page • print and digital articles and publications about local history • public programs and special events • docent led tours of our museum • a reference library at our History Center • presentations on various history subjects, sites, and architecture • a museum shop with a selection of local history books and items • help with personal research • A monthly society newsletter the "Corinthian" Our all volunteer Society owns and maintains our historic center and museum on land leased from the Town of Greece. We are NOT part of the Town of Greece and receive no financial support from local government. Support comes from fundraisers, membership dues, sales in our museum gift shop and donations. Our annual budget is approx. $27,000.00. Our most pressing need currently is replacing lost revenue from cancelled fundraising events due to COVID. Our new goals for this year include: • new publications, • upgrading our computer equipment to allow for hands-on activities in our museum (especially for children), • expanded programs with living history interpreters.
