Incorporated in 1989, the Ontario County Humane Society contracts with Ontario County to enforce the New York State Agriculture and Markets Laws through the operation of the county's animal care facility (Happy Tails shelter). Activities under this contract include enforcing dog control laws and rabies control.
Programs that depend on donations and fundraising include animal cruelty investigations, care of abused animals, adoptions, low cost senior adoption, education, low cost spay/neuter, cat care, and cremation. Dogs and cats that have been abused, neglected, abandoned or given up receive the caring help they need at Happy Tails.
