Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance

Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance has been a pillar of the Pittsford community since 1971, offering excellence in emergency medical services, affordable community medical education, a supply of wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches and other value-added services. We're proud to be an agile organization, responsive to the ever-changing overlap of public safety and healthcare. Our team spends a considerable amount of time advocating for our community's health and welfare at the local, state and federal levels. Our staff of highly-trained EMTs, Paramedics, Instructors and support staff challenge traditional healthcare norms to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our community and providing high-quality programs and services that our community can be proud of. In the last year, our organization has: - Responded to 4% more calls than we did in 2022. - Responded to the statewide workforce shortage of EMTs and Paramedics by leading the charge to secure $4.2 million to fund a 4-year program to pay tuition, transportation, childcare and wages for those who wish to enter the profession. - Partnered with Rochester-area hospitals to provide transportation to home for those with complex medical problems in order to improve hospital flow and reduce ED wait times. - Collaborated with community groups to offer affordable CPR and First Aid training following Damar Hamlin's on-field sudden cardiac arrest. - Submitted insurance appeals on behalf of our patients who we felt were not appropriately covered by their medical insurance when they needed care. - Supported the NYS Senate and Assembly efforts to allow direct payments to ambulance companies and spare the patient from confusing and often misleading medical billing (the bill was passed unanimously in both houses and awaits the Governor’s signature). - Attended several legislative days hosted by elected officials at the County, State and Federal levels advocating for changes that better protects our patients and their families when they call 9-1-1 for help. We are a small organization of just 54 men and women, but we are mighty and we are solving real problems that affect our communities daily. With your help, we are making a difference. Your donation will support several important initiatives, including: - $25,000 to secure continuing education for current EMTs and Paramedics; - $30,000 to fund improvements to our training facility, entry points and signage; and - $130,000 for an additional ambulance to support emergency responses and patient discharge trips from the hospital. Thank you for supporting Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance!
