Rochester School for the Deaf (RSD)

Rochester School for the Deaf opens a world of opportunity for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students. RSD is a language-rich environment, where students have the opportunity to learn, play, and engage directly with each other and their teachers. RSD students have full and ongoing access to language and communication, both incidental and planned. American Sign Language (ASL) and English are the languages used at RSD for communication and instruction. RSD serves Deaf and hard-of-hearing children, from babies through age 21, from more than 30 different school districts in New York. It also provides programs to support families as they learn to communicate and support their Deaf child and to create community and cultural pride. Approximately 30 middle and high school students participate in our residential program, giving them further academic and language support and opportunities to participate in a wide array of activities. Your ROC the Day gift will have a direct impact on RSD students and their families by providing a beautiful campus with unique educational spaces (such as our natural playground), opportunities for educational enrichment (field trips, career exploration, travel to tournaments), and special support for students in need and various outreach initiatives. Check out our Facebook page and website to learn more about our school and the unique role it plays in the Rochester community. Thank you for supporting RSD and the wonderful students who benefit from our school's unique, direct-communication learning environment.
