Special Olympics New York provides inclusive opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to discover and unleash the champion within. Our athletes experience the thrill of competing in authentic sports. They overcome defeat, taste victory and stay active for life at no cost to them, their families or caregivers.
Quoted by a coach, "I saw one of my teenage athletes chest-bump his dad at the end of a race. Afterward, the dad said that he had never had that type of interaction with his son. The moment solidified why I love being part of Special Olympics New York."
In June 2022, 30 athletes, Unified partners and coaches from the Greater Rochester area will be part of the New York State delegation competing at USA Games in Orlando, Florida. Going for Gold in swimming, Unified golf, softball and gymnastics.
