Young Women's College Prep

The mission of the Young Women's College Prep Foundation is to break the cycle of poverty for young, urban girls by increasing their economic self-sufficiency through improved leadership skills, career awareness, college readiness, and college access. To accomplish this, YWCP Inc. creates, implements, and supports innovative programs that educate the whole girl - academically, socially, and emotionally. The Foundation fosters connections between Young Women's College Prep Charter School and the Rochester community, businesses, and colleges and universities, as well as maintains the affiliate relationship with its parent organization, the Young Women's Leadership Network - a highly successful network of all-girls public schools that boasts a 98% graduation rate and a 100% college acceptance rate for graduating seniors. YWCP Inc. was founded in 2011 to support the mission of Young Women's College Prep Charter School (YWCP), Rochester's first and only all-girls public school. The school opened its doors in August 2011 and currently serves nearly 400 students in grade 7-12. YWCP Inc. supports the school by providing innovative programs and best practices that enhance the students' academic experience and increase teachers' ability to prepare students for success in college and beyond. These programs focus on college readiness, career awareness, summer learning, girls' education best practices, and a daily advisory program. Over the past four years, all senior classes have celebrated a graduation rate of 93% or higher.
