Lifetime Care introduced hospice care in our community more than 35 years ago, and delivers passionate caring in the home, skilled nursing facilities and the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center. Hospice care is specialized end-of-life care that allows patients and families to spend their final time together with comfort and dignity, receiving services sustaining quality of life. Hospice works to minimize pain, and manage symptoms of advanced, life-threatening illness. In addition to the patient's physical well-being, hospice also addresses the spiritual, emotional, and psychological concerns of patients and families.
Hospice care is not just about the patient. Social workers help families solve problems they may face during this difficult time, including talking about the loved one's illness to cope with the anticipated loss, or how to best use their personal resources. Pastoral counseling helps families carry out faith-related rituals that are important to the patient. Hospice volunteers offer support and encouragement during times of stress. They have received specialized training to prepare them to assist hospice patients and their families.
Support Groups offered by Lifetime Care are open the entire community, not just family members of patients served by hospice. The offerings at Lifetime Care include specialized programs focused on loss of a spouse, parent, and programs for young adults and children. These programs are not covered by reimbursements, and donations allow Lifetime Care to continue to offer this vast array of services to families and the general public.
